Alaina Gilchrist joined Weinberg, Roger & Rosenfeld as an associate in 2020 in the Los Angeles office, where her practice focuses on litigation and traditional labor law, including handling arbitrations, negotiating contracts, and representing unions before the National Labor Relations Board.

Alaina began her career as a community organizer at the Mahoning Valley Organizing Collaborative (MVOC) in Youngstown, Ohio. At MVOC, she engaged in grassroots and top-roots organizing to address issues related to vacant properties that were left behind from the collapse of the steel industry. Alaina started working for organized labor when the MVOC partnered with SEIU on their Fight for a Fair Economy campaign. She worked for SEIU for roughly six years, including nearly four years with SEIU 32BJ where she organized workers around contract campaigns and served as lead negotiator at the bargaining table.

In law school, Alaina was a Peggy Browning Fellow at another union-side law firm, a Peggy Browning Fellow at the AFL-CIO, a law clerk at Weinberg, Roger & Rosenfeld, and an extern to the Honorable Kim McLane Wardlaw on the 9th Circuit of Appeals. She was also a note editor for the Northeastern University Law Review.

Most importantly, as the daughter of a union janitor, she has first-hand knowledge of the challenges that working families face and the stability and safety that union jobs provide.
