National Apprenticeship Week
President Barack Obama declared November 1 through 7, 2015 to be National Apprenticeship Week. This week celebrates the contribution of registered apprenticeship to training the next generation of skilled workers through programs that allow individuals to earn while they learn.
Unions have been at the forefront of creating quality programs in partnership with signatory employers, investing over $1 billion annually in apprenticeship and training. The result is higher paying jobs, skilled employees, and safer job sites. Workers who go through Union apprenticeship programs find great careers with no student loan debt. Many apprenticeship programs partner with community-based organizations to provide opportunities to underrepresented communities.
