Uphill battle for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival (“DACA”) Recipients: Health and Human Services makes them ineligible for public benefits

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) recently took action to prevent deferred action for childhood arrivals (DACA) beneficiaries from receiving benefits from either Medicaid or the Children’s Health Insurance Program.  In addition, Mississippi, Texas, Nebraska and Arizona have all barred the provision of public benefits and/or driver’s licenses to DACA beneficiaries.
