Social Security Numbers for Deferred Action Immigrant Youth

The Social Security Administration (“SSA”) has issued guidance for immigrant youth who are granted deferred action under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (“DACA”) program.  Individuals granted deferred action and employment authorization can apply for and obtain a Social Security Number (“SSN”) from the SSA.  To obtain a SSN, individuals will be required to show proof of work authorization and identity by providing original documents to the SSA.  The SSA guidance can be found here
