Attorney Positions

Weinberg, Roger & Rosenfeld is currently seeking candidates for five attorney positions in the Alameda, California office and one in Nevada.

The six positions for which the firm is accepting applications are:

1) A Labor Attorney with ideally three years’ experience to work on various aspects of the firm’s work including but not limited to representing workers in the construction industry.

The focus will be on private sector building trades, entertainment, and manufacturing industries unions. Work includes representing workers at grievance arbitration hearings, working on prevailing wage issues, working on legislative issues (local and state), defending labor unions in state and federal court, administrative hearings before the National Labor Relations Board, and collective bargaining negotiations. The position will require frequent travel (several trips per month), mostly within California. Membership in the California Bar preferred.

2) and 3) Two Litigation Attorneys to work on traditional labor and litigation matters.

This includes wage and hour class actions and employee benefits litigation.  Duties include all stages of litigation, legislative advice, union staff and steward trainings, as well as appearances in arbitration and before various administrative agencies such as the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), Public Employment Relations Board (PERB) and State Personnel Board (SPB) as well as Union representation at arbitrations.  Current 3Ls, recent law graduates and experienced attorneys will be considered. Admission to the California bar is required; judicial clerkship is a plus.

WRR does not have a physical office in Nevada.  However, this position requires:

4) A Nevada-licensed Labor Attorney with at least three years’ experience to work on various aspects of the firm’s practice.

The focus will be on primarily representing the firm’s union clients in the private sector building trades and entertainment, and representing trust funds. Work includes representing workers at grievance arbitration hearings, working on prevailing wage issues, defending labor unions in state and federal court, administrative hearings before the NLRB, collective bargaining negotiations, trust fund litigation, plan drafting and review, compliance, working with and advising plan professionals, and providing legal advice to Trust Fund personnel and Trustees.  The position may require some travel, mostly within Nevada. The successful candidate will be licensed and in good standing in Nevada. Licensed in California is a plus.  Most work is in Las Vegas, but Reno-based candidates will be considered.   Three years’ experience required, but more experienced attorney’s preferred.

5) An attorney with at least three years’ experience to join the firm’s practice representing employee benefit plans and unions in the construction, service, and hospitality industries.

Job duties include providing general and legal advice to the firm’s diverse union and employee benefit plan clients; handling ERISA related litigation, including enforcement of contribution obligations, subrogation, benefit denial and withdrawal liability cases; attending client meetings; representing workers at grievance arbitration hearings; and defending the firm’s employee benefit plan clients and union clients in administrative hearings and in state and federal court.  Dedication to the labor movement, strong writing and oral advocacy skills, attention to detail, and organization and time management are very important.  The successful candidate will be licensed and in good standing in California.

6) A labor, litigation, and policy attorney to join its Public Works practice group, to work on competitive bidding, fair contracting, and prevailing wage matters, as well as legislative initiatives working with construction industry unions.

This position involves significant case-handling responsibilities, contract negotiation, legislative drafting, client counseling, and litigation practice addressing issues concerning publicly funded construction projects.  There will also be opportunities to conduct arbitrations and appear before administrative agencies and negotiate Project Labor Agreements (PLA). Applicants must possess exemplary research, writing and analytical skills. Experience with public works, the building trades, or administrative law is helpful but not required. Admission to the California bar is required. Current 3Ls, recent law graduates, and experienced attorneys will be considered.
